Set up a new CHAPS payment – Pay a new payee

In order to use set up a new CHAPS payment follow the instructions on the screen.

You will need to select the account that you want to make the payment from, using the drop-down list, and then create a payment reference name before selecting the amount you want to pay (you should ensure that you have the funds available before you do this).

The estimated date that the funds will clear into the payee's account will be displayed and has been derived from account information and the time of day and day of the week the payment is sent. Only payments confirmed before 2.40pm will be received the same day. CHAPS is intended for high value payments, for lower value payments within the Faster Payment scheme limits you can use the Set up a new payment option on the Left Hand Menu.
